The experience of listening to J.S.Bach’s great festive choral work, the Christmas Oratorio – one of the finest choral masterpieces of the Baroque Era – will stay with you throughout the Christmas Season. The Christmas Story, starting on Christmas Day and ending on the Feast of Epiphany, is celebrated by means of a unified series of cantatas that were originally performed in the two main churches in Leipzig during the Christmas celebrations of 1734-5. Parts 1,2,4 and 6 were given at the Thomaskirche and Parts 3 and 5 at the Nicolaikirche. This Christmas, at Saint George’s, due to the length of each cantata, Part I (For Christmas Day); Part 2 (On the Second Day of Christmas); and Part 3 (on the Third Day of Christmas ) will be performed, then at Christmas 2024 (to end the Choir’s 40th Anniversary Year) Part 4 (On the Feast of the Circumcision ); Part 5 (For Sunday after New Year; and Part 6 (For the Feast of Epiphany) will be performed.

This performance is in the beautiful setting of Saint Georges Church and in keeping with their longstanding tradition, Saint Georges Singers will be serving seasonal refreshments after the performance.
